Sediment Analysis "Sediment"

The Sediment Analysis study measures the erosion of sediment in the creek bank and bed. Large amounts of ersosion can cause detrimental effects on other biotic and abiotic factors of the creek, diminishing its overall health. The sediment that the team studies is solid material that originates mostly from disintegrated rocks and is transported by, suspended in, or deposited from water; it includes chemical and biochemical precipatates and decomposed organic material such as humus. certain types of sediment are more prone to erosion than others. By determining the prevailing type of sediment around the creek, the Sediment team can determine the amount of erosion taking place and the effect that such an erosion will have.
